Real-Life ‘Bunty-Babli’ Arrested After Car Theft in Delhi

New Delhi: A couple who stole a car in real life ‘Bunty-Babli’ style was arrested by the police on Monday from Delhi’s Janak Puri area.

The accused were Sandeep Munna and his girlfriend Reena, both 27 years old. They are from the Palam area of Delhi.

The couple was inspired by the Bollywood movie ‘Bunty Aur Babli’. On February 22 night, a person complained to the police that his vehicle had been taken away by a couple he had offered a lift to. The complainant further mentioned that his laptop was also in his car, which was stolen.

Based on the complaint, a case under IPC sections 379 and 34 was registered.

By analysing CCTV footage, CDRs and other digital footprints, the police team arrested the accused person, Sandeep Munna and recovered the stolen car. Sandeep revealed that his friend Reena helped him in the crime. Reena was arrested and the stolen laptop was recovered at her instance.

According to the police, accused Sandeep Munna and co-accused Reena were living together in the Uttam Nagar area of West Delhi. Both were alcohol addicts without any proper income source. That’s why they planned this theft.
