Shocking! Murdered Businessman Sealed Off in Concrete Wall in Kolkata

Kolkata: A 44-year-old businessman, Bhavya Lakhani, who had been missing since Monday afternoon was found to be murdered, shoved into a gunny bag and dumped in a chamber that was then sealed off with a brick wall on the terrace of a house in Nimta on the outskirts of Calcutta.

According to police sources, the businessman was beaten to death with a cricket bat and stumps by his business partner, Anirban Gupta (38).

The police broke down the cemented wall to recover the body.

Gupta has been arrested.

Initial investigation hinted that Gupta took Rs 50 lakh from Lakhani to supply medicines. But Gupta did not supply the promised medicines and also did not return the money.

Gupta is said to have confessed to the crime and his confession led to the discovery of Lakhani’s body.

Police have also arrested a second accused, Suman Das (38), for transporting Lakhani’s phone to Sovabazar in north Calcutta, to divert police’s attention by making it appear as if Lakhani was there.

Postmortem of Lakhani’s body was conducted on Wednesday. The preliminary report stated that he was murdered on Monday night and the probable cause of his death was a fatal blow on his head.
