Couple, Their Two Children Burnt Alive in Fire in 5-Storeyed Building in Delhi

New Delhi: Four persons including a couple and their two children were charred to death in a fire accident at a five-storeyed residential building in Geeta Colony of Shastri Nagar in Delhi on Thursday morning.

Five others were seriously injured in this fire accident.

Nine fire tenders with over 25 fire personnel brought the fire under control and rescued inhabitants from all floors of the burning building.

According to police, a total of nine injured people — two children, four women and three men — were rescued from the building and rushed to Hedgewar Hospital near Anand Vihar.

Four of them, including a couple and their two minor children were declared dead.

The fire broke out at 5:22 am. The fire started in the parking area. The fire is suspected to have started due to a short circuit in one of the vehicles parked on the ground floor of the building and it spread to other vehicles. The blaze quickly engulfed the entire parking space.

An investigation is on to ascertain the exact cause of the fire.
