Tiger Poachers Nabbed in Mayurbhanj District

Baripada: Four most wanted poachers involved in hunting o tigers were arrested by the personnel of the Forest department from the Udala area of Mayurbhanj district.

The arrested poachers were identified as Mahato Kisku, Thupul Hembram, Nitai Murmu and Saru Murmu.

According to forest officials, the arrested persons were involved in tiger hunting in various forests of Odisha. Several cases related to wildlife crimes are pending against them.

Mahato Kisku was arrested by the Crime Branch around two-and-a-half years ago. A tiger skin and teeth was seized from his possession. But he had managed to escape.

Hembram confessed to hunting tigers during interrogation. Four tiger teeth, some poisons, a country-made gun along with ammunition, more than 80 arrows were seized from his possession.

Nitai and Saru were found to be keeping guns at home illegally for hunting purpose.
