Unable to Feed Family, Pak Man Hacks Wife, 7 Children to Death

Distressed by his abject poverty, a man murdered his wife and seven minor children in Pakistan’s Punjab province. Police have arrested the accused Sajjad Khokhar, who is a menial labourer by profession in Alipur, Muzaffargarh district of Pakistan.

According to reports, the accused was having regular marital quarrels with his wife because of their bad financial condition. According to Pak media, Sajjad allegedly attacked his wife Kausar (42) and seven children — four daughters and three sons, aged between eight months and 10 years — with an axe, killing them on the spot.

During interrogation, Sajjad confessed to his crime. According to him, he took the drastic violent step as he was unable to feed and look after his wife and children any more.

Pakistan’s Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz sought a report from the Inspector General of Police regarding the incident.

Pakistan is now undergoing a grave financial crisis. This recent incident hints at its impact on the common mass.
