Shah Rukh Khan’s stellar performances in ‘Jawan’ and ‘Dunki’ have earned him Best Actor nominations, where he faces competition from Ranbir Kapoor (‘Animal’), Ranveer Singh (‘Rocky Aur Rani…’), Sunny Deol (‘Gadar 2’), and Vicky Kaushal (‘Sam Bahadur’). Kaushal also secures a dual nomination in the Best Actor (Critics) category for ‘Sam Bahadur’ and in the Best Supporting Actor category for ‘Dunki.’

In the directorial arena, the Best Director category features Atlee (‘Jawan’), Karan Johar (‘Rocky Aur Rani…’), Amit Rai (‘OMG2’), Sandeep Reddy Vanga (‘Animal’), Siddharth Anand (‘Pathaan’), and Vidhu Vinod Chopra (’12th Fail’).

The Best Female Actor category sees tough competition with nominations for Alia Bhatt (‘Rocky Aur Rani…’), Deepika Padukone (‘Pathaan’), Rani Mukerji (‘Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway’), Taapsee Pannu (‘Dunki’), Bhumi Pednekar (‘Thank You for Coming’), and Kiara Advani (‘Satyaprem Ki Katha’).

The Critics’ Choice awards include notable films like ’12th Fail,’ ‘Bheed,’ ‘Faraaz,’ ‘Three of Us,’ ‘Joram,’ ‘Sam Bahadur,’ and ‘Zwigato’ in the Best Film (Critics) category.

Acknowledging exceptional performances, the Critics’ Choice for Best Actor features Abhishek Bachchan (‘Ghoomer’), Jaideep Ahlawat (‘Three of Us’), Manoj Bajpayee (‘Joram’), Pankaj Tripathi (‘OMG2’), Rajkummar Rao (‘Bheed’), and Vikrant Massey (’12th Fail’).

In the Critics’ Choice Female Actor category, nominees include Deepti Naval (‘Goldfish’), Rani Mukerji (‘Mrs Chatterjee…’), Fatima Sana Shaikh (‘Dhak Dhak’), Shefali Shah (‘Three of Us’), Saiyami Kher (‘Ghoomer’), and Shahana Goswami (‘Zwigato’).

The Best Supporting Actor (Male) category witnesses a clash between ‘Animal’ co-stars Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol, alongside Emraan Hashmi (‘Tiger 3’), Tota Roy Chowdhary (‘Rocky Aur Rani…’), and Aditya Rawal (‘Faraaz’). Surprisingly, veteran Dharmendra’s name is absent from the list.

However, ‘Rocky Aur Rani…’ co-stars Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi make their presence felt in the Supporting Actor category, competing against Ratna Pathak Shah (‘Dhak Dhak’), Tripti Dimri (‘Animal’), and Yami Gautam (‘OMG2’). Azmi secures a double nomination in the category for ‘Ghoomer.’

The Filmfare Awards will also honour excellence in various technical categories such as editing, action, VFX, cinematography, production design, costume design, lyrics, music album, singer (male and female), story, screenplay, dialogue, background score, choreography, and sound design.
