Ajay Devgn, Timagsu Dhulia to Make Movie on First Dalit Cricketer Palwankar Baloo

Mumbai: The life and times of India’s first Dalit cricketer Palwankar Baloo will come alive on silver screen as actor Ajay Devgn will reportedly feature in Tigmanshu Dhulia’s biopic of the cricketer.

Priti Sinha, a film producer, shared a note on X on May 29, announcing the same. The shooting of this biopic is exp[ected to begin by the end of 2024.

The film will be based on historian Ramchandra Guha’s book ‘A Corner Of A Foreign Field’.

Palwankar Baloo from the Dalit community started as a grounds man at a cricket club in Pune. In 1896, he was selected to play for the Hindu Gymkhana.

Ajay Devgn was last seen in the biopic ‘Maidaan’ based on legendary footballer Syed Abdul Rahim.
