Bollywood Art Director Nitin Desai Honoured at Oscars

Mumbai: Noted Bollywood art director Nitin Desai was honoured posthumously at the 96th Academy Awards held in Los Angeles, United States.

Desai is remembered for his great work in iconic films like ‘Lagaan’ and ‘Jodhaa Akbar’, ‘Devdas’, ‘Munnabhai MBBS’, ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’, and ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’.

In August 2023, Desai was found dead at his Karjat studio near Mumbai.

Nitin has worked with frontline Bollywood directors like Ashutosh Gowarikar, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Rajkumar Hirani and Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

In 2005, he opened his ND Studios spread over 52 acres at Karjat, near Mumbai, where movies like ‘Jodha Akbar’, ‘Traffic Signal’ and reality show ‘Bigg Boss’ were shot.

Before his death, Nitin Desai took charge as the art director was ‘Panipat’ and ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’.
