Singer Suresh Wadkar Conferred Lata Mangeshkar Award

Mumbai: Veteran playback singer Suresh Wadkar was conferred the Gansamragini Lata Mangeshkar Award at a function in Mumbai on Thursday. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis presented him with the award.

Suresh Wadkar has also received Padma Shri in 2021.

Wadkar is enthralling music lovers for around five decades. Lata Mangeshkar played a key role in bringing this praiseworthy singer to the limelight.

His earliest hit numbers were Sona Kare Jhilmil Jhilmil (film Paheli), Seene Me Jalan (Gaman). These songs were appreciated by late legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar and she recommended him to top music composers of the time.

Wadkar has till now sung around 40,000 songs in various Indian languages.
