Afghanistan Tanker Blast: Death Toll Rises To 31

Kabul: 31 people have now died in Afghanistan as a result of a fuel truck explosion in the Salang tunnel, north of Kabul.

A representative for the health ministry reported that the number of fatalities now spiked up to 31 and injuries climbed to 37. Rescue operations were still on and rescuers kept looking for survivors hidden behind the debris, he added.

The Salang tunnel, which was first constructed in the 1960s and is a crucial route connecting the north and south of the country, is located around 130 km north of Kabul.
