Montpellier (France): Following the FIFA World Cup semifinal, fan brawls between France and Morocco fans resulted in the death of a 14-year-old child in Montpellier.
The local civic body claimed in a statement that the youngster was “violently hit” by a car on Wednesday in the city, in the south of France.

“Police are investigating and the vehicle was found near the scene. Video shared on social media showed crowds milling around a car being driven erratically in the street as Moroccan fans riot following their World Cup semifinal 0-2 defeat to France,” the statement read.
Numerous soccer fans and police engaged in combat, during which pyrotechnics and other objects were thrown, along with cardboard boxes and waste bags, were lit on fire.

In the meantime, street brawls between law enforcement personnel and supporters broke out in Lyon, which is north of Montpellier.
According to the authorities, seven police officers were injured, and eight persons were taken into custody.
