Fighting Continues In Sudan Despite 72-Hour Ceasefire

Khartoum: Despite a 72-hour ceasefire, fighting is still continuing in some areas of Sudan. With warplanes in the sky, there were still explosions and gunfire audible in the Capital and neighbouring cities.

General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, the leader of the Sudanese Army, reportedly gave preliminary permission to a plan to extend the cease-fire for an additional 72 hours and dispatch an army representative to the South Sudanese capital of Juba for negotiations.

According to local media, the nation is suffering from a shortage of doctors and a fuel shortage. Finding clean water, food, and money is challenging for people in Khartoum and Omdurman.

Since the violence began, at least 459 people have died, however, it’s believed that figure is significantly higher. The World Health Organisation (WHO) stated that it anticipated a significant increase in fatalities from disease, a lack of access to food and water, and disruptions to medical facilities.
