Pakistani Elderly Woman Commits Suicide After Paying Hefty Power Bill from Money She Saved for Her Hernia Surgery

Razia Bibi, a 65-year-old woman of Gujranwala area of Pakistan committed suicide after using the money she had saved for her hernia surgery to pay an unexpected hefty electricity bill, reported Pakistani media.

She received an unexpected electricity bill of Rs 10,000. To avoid disconnection of electricity to her family home, she used her medical savings to settle the payment, as per ARY News.

The son of Razia Bibi stated that his mother was deeply distressed over the financial setback and jumped into a drain to end life.

Razia Bibi’s daughter rushed to save her mother but failed. Search is on to recover the woman’s body.

The Gujranwala Police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
