The storm devastated bridges, swept away roofs off buildings and damaged factories. It made the landfall on Saturday with wind speed exceeding 149 kilometres per hour.

The North Vietnam has since been battling severe flooding. Thousands have been evacuated from their homes. Most areas suffer power cuts.
