US Condemns Taliban’s Ban on Women Education

The Taliban’s recent move to restrict women’s access to universities in Afghanistan has been denounced by the United States.

According to White House, NSC spokesperson Adrienne Watson on Tuesday said, “the United States condemns the Taliban’s unjustifiable decision to bar Afghan women from receiving a university-level education.”

“This deplorable decision is the latest effort by Taliban leadership to impose additional restrictions on women and girls in Afghanistan and prevent them from exercising their human rights and fundamental freedoms,” she said.

According to Watson, the Taliban will lose the credibility they seek as a result of their unconscionable decision to keep the other half of Afghanistan’s population in captivity.

“The United States is in touch with our partners and allies on this issue. We will continue to take steps to advance our shared efforts to support Afghan women and girls and provide robust humanitarian support to the people of Afghanistan,” she added in a statement.
