The Islamabad police arrested Chaudhry under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Ordinance (MPO) and shifted him to the Secretariat Police Station.

Earlier, former Pakistan PM & Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has been taken into custody for eight days by the nation’s leading anti-corruption agency.

Khan appeared before a court in Pakistan’s capital city of Islamabad today after the National Accountability (NAB) requested 14-day custody for interrogation in corruption matters.

Khan was arrested on Wednesday in Islamabad. He was taken overnight to an undisclosed location and then made an appearance in a specially convened court at the police headquarters behind closed doors.

Khan said in court that he was tortured while being held against his will and was denied access to the lavatory.

The former cricketing icon, who is still well-liked in Pakistan, also claimed that he was given an injection intended to cause a slow heart attack.

The case will next be heard by the Islamabad court on May 17.
