World Laughter Day 2023: History, Significance

New Delhi: World Laughter Day is observed on the first Sunday of May to raise awareness about laughter and its many healing benefits. Laughter has the power to heal and renew. On the first Sunday of May, more than 70 countries around the world celebrate World Laughter Day.

World Laughter Day: History

In 1998, World Laughter Day was created by Dr. Madan Kataria, founder of the worldwide Laughter Yoga movement.

Dr. Madan started the Laughter Yoga movement in 1995 with the aim of the facial feedback hypothesis, postulating that a person’s facial expressions can have an effect on their emotions.

World Laughter Day 2023: Significance

World Laughter Day is not only about having fun, but it also promotes the importance of laughter in maintaining good mental and physical health. Laughter is a powerful tool that can reduce stress, improve mood, and strengthen the immune system.
