Raipur: The world’s tallest bamboo tower erected in Bemetra, Chhattisgarh was virtually inaugurated by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, to mark the World Bamboo Day.

The 140-foot-tall structure, weighing 7,400 kilograms, was erected at a cost of around Rs 11 lakh by the Bhavya Srishti Udyog in Kathiya village.

This bamboo structure is modelled after the Eiffel Tower of Paris. It was designed by Ganesh Verma, the founder of Bhavya Srishti Udyog, who is also an expert in bamboo technology.

The virtual event was also attended by the Speaker of the Chhattisgarh Assembly Dr. Raman Singh as well as some MPs and MLAs.

Praising the company for its research on Bamboo, Gadkari highlighted the recent tower’s lightweight structure and a projected lifespan of over 25 years. Gadkari said, this bamboo structure can be used as a watchtower, telecom tower, or even a radio transmission tower.

Gadkari also urged the Chhattisgarh government to promote bamboo-based industries to benefit the state’s tribal population. Dr. Raman Singh said the bamboo tower has added to Chhattisgarh’s prestige.

Ganesh Verma revealed that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways will soon begin pilot projects to install bamboo crash barriers in 25 states.
