5G Services Now Operational In 50 Cities: Ashwini Vaishnaw

New Delhi: Union Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Wednesday announced that 5G services have begun to roll out in 50 cities and towns across India.

Reliance Jio and Airtel, two of India’s largest telecom service providers, began rolling out 5G services gradually in the nation in October of this year.

In a written response submitted to the Lok Sabha today, the Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw made this claim.

The service providers are giving free access to 5G services to their customers with 5G-capable devices, according to Vaishnaw.

The minimum rollout responsibilities must be fulfilled over a period of five years in a phased manner starting from the date of spectrum allocation, according to the Notice Inviting Application (NIA) for auction of access spectrum and license terms, he said.
