Arrest Warrant Against Wife of Ex-Foreign Min Salman Khurshid

Lucknow: An MP-MLA court in Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh has issued an arrest warrant against Louise Khurshid, wife of former External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid, in a case related to alleged misuse of government funds.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Shambhavi of the special MP-MLA court issued the arrest warrant against two persons, including Louise Khurshid. The next date for hearing of the case is February 16.

According to sources, this case pertains to a programme of distribution of artificial limbs and equipment organised by Dr Zakir Hussain Memorial Trust for Disabled Persons in the year 2009-10. This trust is run by Louise Khurshid in the Bhojipura area of the Bareilly district.

It was alleged that government funds were misused in the programme by the trust through fake seals and signatures in the programme and a case regarding it was registered in Bhojipura police station in 2017. Louise Khurshid and organisation’s secretary Mohammad Athar Farooqui were named in the FIR.

The court issued an arrest warrant as both accused neither appeared nor got bail in the case despite several summons.
