5 Wagons of Goods Train Derail in Maharashtra’s Boisar Station, No Impact on Rail Traffic

Mumbai: Five container-laden wagons of a goods train derailed at Boisar railway station, approximately 100 kilometres north of Mumbai, on Saturday morning. The Western Railway (WR) confirmed the incident, assuring the public that there was no disruption to suburban or long-distance train services as the derailment occurred within the station yard.

According to WR Chief Public Relations Officer Vinit Abhishek, no injuries were reported and restoration work is underway to re-rail the derailed wagons. The cause of the derailment is under investigation.

This is the second such incident on the WR’s Mumbai division in less than ten days. A similar derailment took place at Dungri station near Valsad, Gujarat, on July 19, coinciding with a railway board review meeting at WR headquarters.
