Breakthrough in Karni Sena Chief’s Murder Case: 2 Shooters, 1 Associate Arrested

New Delhi: In a late-night joint operation, the Delhi Crime Branch and Rajasthan Police successfully apprehended two shooters and an associate linked to the murder of Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi in Chandigarh. The arrested individuals include Rohit Rathore, Nitin Fauji, and Udham, with Udham’s involvement in the murder still under verification.

Following the killing on November 5, the shooters reportedly concealed their weapons and fled to Hisar, Haryana, then to Manali, Himachal Pradesh, before returning to Chandigarh, where the arrests were made. The police, using mobile phone locations, traced the shooters, leading to their capture.

Dinesh MN, the head of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and Additional Director General (Crime), confirmed the successful operation. The arrested individuals will be formally charged on Sunday, and their court appearance is scheduled for Monday.

The murder, captured on CCTV, prompted widespread protests, and a bandh was observed on November 26. Gangster Rohit Godara, associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility for the murder through social media. Police revealed that the shooters were in contact with Godara’s close aides, Virendra Chauhan and Danaram, who allegedly instructed the murder.

Jaipur Police announced the arrest of another conspirator, Ramveer Jat, who facilitated Fauji in Jaipur before the killing. The incident resulted in an exchange of fire with police, leading to the death of one of the assailants, Naveen Shekhawat, at Gogamedi’s residence.

The Rajasthan Police formed a special investigation team (SIT), headed by ADG Dinesh MN, to probe the murder amid a regime change in the state after the Assembly election.
