BSF Sub-Inspector Trampled to Death by Wild Elephants in Meghalaya

Shillong: A sub-inspector (SI) of the Border Security Force (BSF) was trampled to death by a herd of elephants near the Indo-Bangladesh border in the West Garo Hills of Meghalaya on Wednesday.

The deceased identified as Sub Inspector Rajbir Singh was a member of the 100 Bn of the BSF deployed in the Garo Hills sector.

Singh was supervising the deployment of jawans in the Dalu region when a herd of elephants came out of the nearby forest and attacked him.

He was trampled to death by the pachyderms on the spot. His mortal remains are being transported back to his home state of Haryana for the last rites.
