Wild Elephant Tramples Young Woman to Death in Keonjhar Dist

Bhubaneswar: A 20-year-old girl was trampled to death by a wild elephant in the forest near Gurutuan village under the Champua forest range in Odisha’s Keonjhar district on Thursday.

The deceased identified as Sombari Munda, was from the Gurutuan village under the Jajang panchayat.

The woman faced the elephant attack while she was walking through the jungle to visit her maternal grandfather’s house. The wild elephant killed her on the spot.

On being informed, local police and Forest Department officials reached the spot to start an investigation. The body of the victim was sent for post-mortem and a case of unnatural death was registered.
