Wild Elephant Tramples Man to Death in Mayurbhanj Dist

Baripada: A man was trampled to death by a wild elephant in the Betnoti area under the Baripada forest division in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Thursday night.

The deceased was identified as Puina Dehury of the Kalianal village under Morada police station limits.

According to reports, three stray wild elephants entered the village on Thursday night creating panic among the villagers. One of the wild elephants attacked Puina’s house while he and his two daughters were sleeping inside. The two girls managed to save themselves by running away from the house.

But the stray wild elephant caught their father and trampled him to death.

Betnoti forest range officials and local police rushed to the spot to shoo away the wild elephants from the vicinity of human habitat. They seized the body of the victim for post-mortem.
