Crorepati Boudh RTO Arrested by Vigilance for Amassing Disproportionate Assets

Bhubaneswar: The Boudh RTO Basanta Kumar Mohapatra was arrested by the Odisha Vigilance on Friday for allegedly possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

According to sources, Odisha Vigilance officials have seized unaccounted properties worth Rs 19 crore from his possession.

The seized properties include flats worth Rs 14.50 crore at various locations in Bhubaneswar, Boudh, and Ganjam districts and jewellery, vehicles, and movable properties worth Rs 4.50 crore.

Mohapatra was found to possess disproportionate assets including two costly flats and two commercial shopping outlets in Bhubaneswar, advance payment of Rs 2.23 crores to realtors for the purchase of flats in Bhubaneswar and Bengaluru, deposits of over Rs 3.90 crores, gold weighing 590 grams, cash Rs 1.16 lakh etc., official sources said.

On Thursday, vigilance sleuths conducted simultaneous raids at 10 locations linked to the RTO in Bhubaneswar, Boudh, and Ganjam.

Mohapatra will be produced before the court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar.
