Khurda JE Nabbed by Vigilance While Taking Rs 50000 Bribe

Bhubaneswar: Sangeeta Mohapatra, a Junior Engineer (JE), posted in Khurda block in Khurda district was arrested by Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday, while she was demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a complainant for passing the final bills for release of payment in connection with a development work executed by the contractor.

The entire marked-up bribe money was recovered and seized from the possession of the erring JE.

Simultaneous searches are underway at two locations linked to Mohapatra from the disproportionate assets (DA) angle.

A case has been registered in this connection at the Bhubaneswar Vigilance police station under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
