Vigilance Catches Bribe Taking Police ASI in Nabrangpur Dist

Nabarangpur: A police ASI identified as Simanchal Moharana, posted at Dabugaon police station in Nabarangpur was nabbed by the officials of the Odisha Vigilance inside the police station while he was demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5000 from a complainant on Saturday for showing leniency in a case registered earlier in the PS against the complainant and his family members.

On seeing the vigilance officials, Moharana threw the entire bribe money into PS Malkhana. But the marked-up bribe money was recovered and seized from the Malkhana. Both hands wash of ASI Moharana confirming acceptance of bribe money.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches were taken up at two separate locations linked to ASI Moharana from a DA angle.
