Masjid Cleric Beaten to Death by Masked Men in Rajasthan’s Ajmer

Ajmer: A 30-year-old cleric of a mosque in Rajasthan’s Ajmer was allegedly beaten to death by a group of three masked men in Rajasthan’s Ajmer.

According to the police, the incident took place around 2 am on Saturday. The accused entered the mosque located in Kanchan Nagar under the Ramganj police station limits of Ajmer and attacked the cleric, Mohammad Tahir, with lathis. Tahir died on the spot.

The attackers threatened the six present inside the mosque at the time of the attack not to disclose the matter and took away their mobile phones.

After the accused escaped, the children came out of the mosque and alerted the locals. Tahir was from Uttar Pradesh and used to teach children in the mosque.

A case has been registered over the matter against unidentified persons under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code, the SHO said. So far no arrest has been made in this connection.
