Police ASI Nabbed While Taking Bribe in Cuttack Dist

Cuttack: Vigilance officials arrested an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Odisha Police while he was accepting a bribe from a complainant to help him in a case in the Cuttack district of Odisha. The arrested ASI, Alok Sarangi, was posted at Bhadreswar Police Station in Cuttack district.

Sarangi had allegedly demanded money from the complainant to relax Sections in a case registered against him. The complainant preferred to inform the vigilance department regarding it.

Sarangi was nabbed through a trap set by the vigilance sleuths while he was taking a bribe of Rs 8000 from the complainant on the Bhadreswar Police Station premises.

Following his arrest, searches were made at three locations linked to the ASI from a disproportionate assets (DA) case angle.
