Another Staff of Pakistan Airlines Goes Missing in Canada, 2nd Incident in a Week

A steward of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), Jibran Baloch, 47, went missing from Canada, making it the second such incident in a week.

Baloch was part of the cabin crew on PK-783 from Karachi to Toronto. He was scheduled to report for the return flight PK-782 to Islamabad on Thursday. But he didn’t report for the return flight. The PIA authorities could not trace the whereabouts of Baloch.

Earlier on Monday, an air hostess of PIA, Maryam Raza, also vanished from her hotel room in Toronto after arriving on flight PK-782 from Islamabad.

So far in 2024, three cabin crew members of the PIA have gone missing in Canada. In 2023, at least seven PIA cabin crew members went missing in Canada.

It is suspected that these PIA crew members disappeared in Canada due to the flexible law which offers asylum after entering the country.

According to the PIA authorities, a crew member who escaped in a similar manner some years back is now settled in Canada and “advises” other crew members mulling asylum.
