Centre Issues Notice Over Sidhu Moose Wala’s Brother Born Through IVF, Flags Age Limit

New Delhi: The Union Health Ministry has raised concerns over the recent birth of late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala’s parents’ baby via In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF). According to ministry guidelines, women aged between 21 to 50 are eligible for IVF treatment, but Sidhu Moose Wala’s mother, Charan Kaur, is 58.

The couple opted for IVF nearly two years after the tragic loss of their only son, who was murdered in May 2022 at the age of 28. The Ministry has requested a report from the Punjab government regarding Charan Kaur’s IVF treatment.

The issue came to light after a newspaper article on February 27 mentioned Charan Kaur’s IVF treatment. The Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, clarified via Twitter that it respects Punjabi sentiments and is cooperating with the Central Government’s request for documents.

However, Sidhu Moose Wala’s father, Balkaur Singh, accused the Punjab government of harassment, claiming that authorities questioned him regarding the legality of their second child, born on March 17. Singh asserted his compliance with all legal procedures and stated his readiness to provide the necessary documents.
