Cheetah Trackers Mistaken as Cattle Thieves Attacked in Kuno National Park

Bhopal: In a disturbing incident near Madhya Pradesh’s Kuno National Park, villagers attacked a team responsible for tracking a cheetah that had strayed from the protected area.

The police confirmed that one member of the tracking team was injured and is currently receiving treatment. The female cheetah, named Aasha, had ventured outside the park, prompting the park authorities to dispatch a team to locate her.

The team, travelling in a Bolero SUV, encountered resistance in Burakheda village, where the villagers unexpectedly assaulted them. The SUV’s rear windshield was shattered, indicating a forceful impact.

Authorities have identified 10-15 suspects and are interrogating the villagers to apprehend those responsible for the attack.

Kuno National Park is known for its cheetah reintroduction program, where cheetahs from South Africa and Namibia were brought in.

Unfortunately, three out of the four recently born cheetah cubs have tragically passed away.
