Lok Sabha Election 2024: Phase 3 Polling For 93 Seats Underway; Over 1,300 Candidates In Fray

New Delhi: Voting for the third phase of Lok Sabha polls is underway for 93 seats across 11 states and Union territories.

The BJP, having previously secured a majority in many of these seats, faces significant stakes. Over 1,300 candidates, including about 120 women, are vying for these seats. Notable contenders include Jyotiraditya Scindia, Mansukh Mandaviya, Parshottam Rupala, Pralhad Joshi, and SP Singh Baghel.

PM Modi and Amit Shah are set to cast their votes in Ahmedabad under the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat. Security measures have been heightened in Gandhinagar ahead of their visits. The BJP has already secured one seat in Surat uncontested, while 25 seats in Gujarat will go to polls.

In Maharashtra, a key battle unfolds between Supriya Sule and Sunetra Pawar in Baramati. Uttar Pradesh will witness contests in Mainpuri and Firozabad, with Dimple Yadav and Akshaya Yadav in the fray respectively.

The fate of notable figures like Basavaraj Bommai and Badruddin Ajmal will be decided in this phase. After this phase, voting will be completed in 283 out of 543 Lok Sabha seats, with subsequent phases scheduled for May 13, May 20, May 25, and June 1. Counting of votes will take place on June 4.
