IAS Officers’ Daughter Jumps Off Building In Mumbai; Suicide Note Found

Mumbai: In a heart-wrenching incident, a 27-year-old law student tragically lost her life in Mumbai early Monday morning.

The young woman, identified as Lipi, was the daughter of two prominent Maharashtra cadre IAS officers. She reportedly jumped from the 10th floor of a building near the Mantralaya, South Mumbai’s state secretariat, around 4 AM.

She was immediately rushed to GT Hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival, officials confirmed.

The victim’s parents, both serving in the Maharashtra government, are high-ranking officials. Her father, Vikas Rastogi, is the Principal Secretary in the Higher and Technical Education Department, while her mother, Radhika Rastogi, also holds a senior IAS position.

According to a senior official, Lipi was pursuing an LLB course in Sonipat, Haryana, and had been experiencing anxiety about her academic performance. A suicide note found at the scene reportedly absolved everyone from blame for her death.

Tragically, this isn’t the first such incident involving IAS officer families in Mumbai. In 2017, Maharashtra cadre IAS officers Milind and Manisha Mhaiskar suffered a similar loss when their 18-year-old son jumped from a high-rise building.
