DRDO’s Tapas Drone Crashes During Trial Flight in Karnataka’s Chitradurga

Chitradurga: A Tapas unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) crashed during a trial flight in Karnataka’s Chitradurga district on Sunday.

The UAV, known as TAPAS BH-201, is a long-endurance unmanned aerial vehicle designed for advanced aerial surveillance capabilities. It was undergoing testing when the crash occurred.

Local villagers quickly gathered at the crash site to witness the aftermath. The UAV was damaged and its equipment was scattered in the nearby agriculture fields.

The Defence Ministry has ordered an inquiry into the crash to determine the cause. DRDO is also conducting its own investigation.

The Tapas UAV is a critical part of India’s defence arsenal. The crash is a setback for the country’s defence program, but the investigation is expected to provide valuable insights into the incident.
