Reasi (J&K): Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who shared a time-lapse video of the construction of the Anji Khad bridge on Saturday informed the public that the bridge is now ready for use. This is India’s first cable-stayed railroad bridge, with 96 cables. The total length of the cable strands is 653 kilometres.

“In 11 months, India’s first cable-stayed rail bridge is ready. All 96 cables are set! #AnjiKhadBridge PS: Total length of cable strands 653 km,” the caption for the timelapse video read.

The most challenging Udampur-Srinagar-Baramulla-Rail Link (USBRL) Project of Indian Railways is having the bridge constructed in the Reasi district of Jammu & Kashmir.

The distance from Jammu to the bridge is about 80 kilometres.

The “first cable-stayed bridge” in the nation, according to Indian Railways, is the Anji Khad Bridge that connects Katra and Reasi in Jammu & Kashmir. The bridge includes the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) Project, a federal initiative.

The Himalayas’ young fold mountains, where the bridge is situated, have extremely intricate, sensitive, and terrifying geological features such as faults, folds, and thrusts, in addition to the area’s seismic vulnerability. IIT Delhi and IIT Roorkee carried out extensive site-specific investigations.
