Karnataka Exit Polls 2023: Hung Assembly Predicted, JD(S) To Be Key Player

Bengaluru:A number of exit poll surveys predicted a hung Assembly in Karnataka, with the opposition Congress party leading in the polls and capturing more seats than the incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The counting will be held on Saturday.

According to the polls, Janata Dal Secular (JDS) comes third and turns out to be the kingmaker. While three exit polls forecast a hung assembly, Zed Matrize’s results show that Congress will win by a simple majority, securing 118 seats.

According to the exit poll conducted by TV9 Kannada-CVOTER, the BJP is predicted to win 83–98 seats, while the JDS is predicted to win 21–29 seats. Others would prevail In 2 to 6 seats.

The Zed Matrize exit poll awards 108–118 seats to the Congress party, 79–89 to BJP, 25–35 to JDS, and 2–6 seats to others, whereas the TV9–POLSTRAT exit poll predicted that the Congress party would win in 99–109 seats, the BJP in 88–98 seats, the JDS in 21–26, and others in 4 seats.

According to the Republic-PMARQ exit poll, the Congress would win 94–108 seats, the BJP 85–100, the JDS 24-32, and other candidates 2–6 seats.

Following the formation of the coalition government in 2008 by the JDS and the BJP, JDS leader H.D. Kumaraswamy was appointed Chief Minister and B.S. Yediyurappa of the BJP was named as his deputy. 2018 saw an alliance between the Congress and the JDS, and as a result, JDS’s H.D. Kumaraswamy was elected chief minister.
