Cyclonic Storm Likely To Hit BoB By This Evening: IMD

New Delhi: The deep depression over Southeast Bay of Bengal has moved north-north-westwards with a speed of 12 kilometres per hour during the past six hours and lies centred at the same region, about 520 km southwest of Port Blair.

By tonight, it is very likely to proceed in a north-northwesterly direction and gradually strengthen into a cyclonic storm over the same area, according to the India Meteorological Department.

It will gradually develop into a severe cyclonic storm by tomorrow morning and a very severe cyclonic storm by midnight over the southeast and adjacent central Bay of Bengal if it keeps moving north-northwestward.

Beginning on Friday morning, it is forecast to gradually recurve and proceed north-northeastward. The Met Department further stated that it is expected to diminish slightly starting on Saturday evening and cross northwestern Myanmar and southeast Bangladesh somewhere on Sunday morning with a maximum sustained wind speed of 110 to 120 kilometres per hour with gusts up to 130 kilometres per hour.
