5-Year-Old Girl Drowns In River While Playing In Odisha’s Jajpur

Jajpur: A young life was tragically cut short on Thursday after a five-year-old girl drowned in a river near Jari village, under Binjharpur police limits in Jajpur district. The deceased has been identified as Soni.

Reports indicate that Soni’s mother was bathing in the river when the incident occurred. While her mother was preoccupied, Soni is believed to have wandered into the water and was swept away by the current.

Distraught by the sight of her daughter being carried away by the river, Soni’s mother cried out for help. Local villagers and boatmen who were nearby rushed for help. After a search effort, they located Soni unconscious in the river.

Despite their efforts to revive her, medical personnel at a nearby hospital declared Soni dead on arrival.
