10 Workers Injured in Explosion at Steel Plant in Odisha’s Keonjhar

Keonjhar: A horrific industrial accident at a steel plant in Rugudi, Keonjhar, left at least 10 labourers with severe burn injuries on Thursday.

The incident occurred when a furnace malfunction resulted in a powerful explosion, showering sparks and molten metal across a 50-meter radius.

Reports suggest all the injured workers were temporary employees recruited by a contractor firm and hailed from various Indian states.

Hundreds of labourers were working as usual when the deafening explosion ripped through the plant. Panic erupted as workers scrambled for safety. Tragically, ten individuals were engulfed by the fiery debris.

All ten injured labourers were rushed to the Keonjhar district headquarters hospital. The condition of four victims is reportedly critical.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the explosion as concerns for safety and workplace regulations arise.
