Tripura State Rifles Jawans Assigned Election Duty in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Tripura State Rifles (TSR), an esteemed counter-insurgency unit, is mobilizing its forces for election duty in Odisha and Himachal Pradesh.

The TSR personnel will be deployed in Himachal Pradesh and Odisha, where elections will be held concurrently for the 147-member Assembly and 21 Lok Sabha seats across four phases between May 13 and June 1.

Renowned for their role in ensuring security during the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, TSR’s India Reserve (IR) battalions are at the disposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs and have been deployed across various states during both Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.

Since 2019, two TSR battalions comprising approximately 2,000 personnel have been stationed under the authority of the Delhi Police, while another battalion has been safeguarding the South Eastern Coalfields Ltd (SECL) in Chhattisgarh since 2022.

Additionally, one battalion is tasked with providing security to Oil and Natural Gas Corporation’s drilling sites in Tripura.
