BJP Leader’s Son Among Accused in Gang-Rape & Assault, Protests Erupt in MP

Datia: A case of gang rape and sexual assault involving the son of a local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader has emerged in the Datia district of Madhya Pradesh. The incident has sparked outrage among the survivors’ relatives and local residents, who surrounded the police station demanding action. Two of the accused have been arrested so far.

The survivors, who are students, were allegedly abducted by four individuals and taken to a house where the elder sister was raped. A complaint was lodged by the younger sister, and a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The situation is particularly sensitive as the area is the home turf of Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra, who represents the Datia Assembly constituency. The BJP’s district unit head has stated that appropriate action will be taken if the gang-rape survivor names the son of the local party functionary as being involved in the crime.

Disturbingly, one of the victims attempted to commit suicide by hanging and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital. The police are conducting an investigation into the matter, and a reward of ₹10,000 has been announced for the accused who are currently on the run.

The incident is deeply unfortunate, as acknowledged by the BJP’s district president. The police are yet to record the victim’s statement, but if the victim names the BJP office-bearer’s son, the party will serve a notice to him and take further action accordingly.
