Delhi Excise Policy Scam: Manish Sisodia Granted Interim Relief to Visit Ailing Wife

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia was granted interim relief in the Delhi excise policy case today. Despite being in custody, he has been permitted to visit his ailing wife between 10 am and 5 pm on June 3.

The Delhi High Court, which heard Sisodia’s plea for interim bail, has also requested the medical records of his wife by tomorrow. Sisodia’s wife is afflicted with multiple sclerosis, a potentially debilitating neurological disorder.

However, while in custody, Sisodia will only be allowed to meet his immediate family members. He will not have access to the internet, nor will he be permitted to interact with the media.

Following his arrest, Sisodia was removed from his position as the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi. The court has reserved its order on his bail application.

Sisodia’s arrest in the Delhi liquor policy case occurred on February 26 by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Subsequently, on March 9, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) also arrested him in connection with the same case after a lengthy interrogation at Tihar Jail.

The Delhi government had introduced the liquor policy on November 17, 2021, but it was terminated in September 2022 amid allegations of corruption. Both the CBI and the ED are investigating Sisodia regarding accusations of corruption and money laundering.
