School Headmaster Suspended for Allegedly Throwing Acid on 8-Yr-Old Girl Student

Chitradurga (Karnataka): A government school headmaster in Karnataka has been suspended following a disturbing incident in which an eight-year-old student was injured after being allegedly thrown acid at.

The incident occurred on October 25, 2023, at the Government Higher Primary School in Jodichikkenahalli, Chitradurga district. The headmaster, Rangaswamy, has been accused of throwing acid on a second-standard student named Sinchana, who had ventured near the toilets despite being instructed not to.

Sinchana sustained burn injuries and was rushed to a hospital for medical treatment. The headmaster has insisted that the incident was accidental, claiming that the acid accidentally spilled from his pocket as the seniors were handling the task.

However, Sinchana’s parents have called for action against the headmaster, and have lodged a complaint with the Chitradurga Rural police station. The police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.

The Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI) Ravishankara Reddy has suspended the headmaster pending inquiry.
