Sexagenarian Takes Mother’s Dead Body By Wheelchair To Crematorium In Tamil Nadu

Trichy: A heart-wrenching incident has been witnessed in Tamil Nadu’s Trichy. A 60-year-old man brought his deceased mother in a wheelchair to a crematorium as he did not have money to conduct the final rites.

The man, identified as Muruganandham who is an electrician by profession, pushed his mother’s deceased body on a wheel-chair for nearly two-and-a-half kilometres. The man informed the crematorium officials that his mother suffered from psoriasis, and thought that no one would help him.

He also informed the crematorium corporation staff that he did not have the financial resources to conduct a proper funeral.

Then, the corporation staff informed the man about government initiatives available for the same and also said that many NGOs help economically disadvantaged people in performing the last rites for their loved ones.

The deceased woman, Rajeshwari (84), was suffering from psoriasis and had been under treatment for several years. On Wednesday, her doctor informed the family about Rajeshwari’s deteriorating health and advised the family to have her at home and continue the treatment there. Unfortunately, at 4 am on Thursday morning, the 84-year-old woman passed away.

After that, her son Muruganandham wrapped the woman in cloth and took her to the crematorium in a wheelchair. The corporation officials in the crematorium helped Muruganandham procure the death certificate after verifying the hospital documents and consulting with the woman’s doctor.
