Srinagar Freezes At -6.4°C; Mercury Falls To Record Low For The Season

Srinagar (J&K): The coldest night of the season thus far was Thursday in Srinagar, J&K, where the temperature dropped to minus 6.4 degrees Celsius.

The next 24 hours will continue to be extremely chilly and dry, according to the Meteorological (MeT) Department’s forecast.

“In J&K and Ladakh, the next 24 hours are anticipated to be cold and dry. During this time, the sky is probably going to stay clear,” according to a MeT department official.

Srinagar recorded the second-lowest winter temperature in five years on Thursday, with a reading of minus 6.4 degrees Celsius. The lowest temperature recorded in Srinagar on January 31 of 2021 was minus 8.8.

The lowest temperature was recorded at Pahalgam at minus 9.2 and in Gulmarg at minus 7.5.

Kargil reported a minimum temperature of minus 19.2 and Leh of minus 15.2 in the Ladakh region.

The minimum temperature in Jammu was 7.3, Katra was 6.3, Batote was 3, Banihal was 5.2, and Bhaderwah was minus 0.4.
