New Delhi: Former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma got a licence to carry a personal gun.
Sharma was suspended by the party for her derogatory remarks against Prophet Mohammed and applied for a gun licence after she received several death threats due to her remarks.
Her lawyer told the Supreme Court that there was “an ever-increasing threat to her safety” and that it is “a real and genuine threat”.
She kicked up a political storm after she made derogatory remarks against Prophet Mohammed during a television show which drew a massive backlash from Gulf countries.
She later unconditionally withdrew the controversial statement and said in a statement posted on Twitter that it was never her intention to hurt anyone’s religious feelings.
