4 Killed 10 Injured in Gas balloon Cylinder Blast in WB

Kolkata: Four persons died 10 others were injured when a helium gas cylinder of a balloon seller exploded at a village fair in West Bengal. The blast occurred in Jayanagar area of South 24 Parganas on Sunday night.

A large crowd had gathered for the fair held in Batra village under Rajapur-Karabeg village panchayat of Jayanagar in South 24 Parganas.

At around 9.30 pm, a gas balloon cylinder stored at the shop of Muchiram Halder exploded. The explosion was so great that it killed four persons on the spot. At least ten others were seriously injured by the splinters from the explosion.

The deceased have been identified as Qutubuddin Mistry (36), Shaheen Molla (14), Abir Ghazi and the gas balloon seller Muchiram Halder.

Police and fire brigade rushed to the spot to rescue the injured. The injured were shifted to a hospital in Kolkata.
