5 Army Jawans Martyred in Exchange of Fire with Terrorists in J&K’s Rajouri

Srinagar: Five Army jawans lost their lives in an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Friday.

According to sources, after receiving intelligence reports about the presence of terrorists in Kandi Forest in Rajouri sector, at around 7.30 am, a joint operation was launched.

The search team located a group of terrorists hiding in a cave in a rocky area with steep cliffs and thick vegetation cover. The terrorists blasted an explosive device in retaliation. The Army team suffered two fatal casualties and critical injuries to three soldiers. The three jawans died of injuries later, reported India Today.

There is a likelihood of casualties in the terrorists group. The operation is still in progress. The terrorists are still trapped in the area.

On Thursday, two terrorists were killed in an exchange of fire in Baramulla district. Police recovered incriminating materials, arms and ammunition, including an AK 47 rifle and one pistol from the slain terrorists.
